November 20-21, 2010
Hildegard Center for the Arts brought to Lincoln actress/singer Linn Maxwell to perform her one-act, one-woman show in which she portrayed the German nun Hildegard von Bingen. Ms. Maxwell’s Program, “Hildegard of Bingen and the Living Light” on Sunday, November 21st, 3pm at Saint Paul United Methodist Church, was a lively portrayal of the 12th century German abbess. Hildegard returns to the 21st century to share her timeless message of hope, healing and life force. Ms. Maxwell combines her own spirituality and life-long commitment to music and drama to portray Hildegard. She performed seven songs composed by Hildegard as she accompanies herself on the psaltery, Anglo-Saxon harp and organistrum. Ms. Maxwell’s performance was followed by an audience talk.
On November 20, 2010, at the Country Club of Lincoln, 10am, Linn Maxwell hosted a fundraiser brunch for Hildegard Center for the Arts. As part of the event, Ms. Maxwell gave a light and lively presentation entitled “Finding Hildegard”. Linn shared slides of Bingen, and the surrounding area, and discussed how as an actor/singer, she came to embrace the character of Hildegard von Bingen.
