Bridges: Sharing Our Past to Enrich the Future”

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. As Nebraska kicks off its yearlong 150th birthday celebration in 2017, so too will the state’s 93 counties have an exciting opportunity to tell Nebraska’s story through captivating images thanks to the statewide Sesquicentennial Traveling Photo Exhibit, “Bridges: Sharing Our Past to Enrich the Future

Endorsed by the Nebraska 150 Commission as a “Signature Event,” the “Bridges” Sesquicentennial Traveling Photo Exhibit is sponsored by Hildegard Center for the Arts of Lincoln in collaboration with the Nebraska Tourism Commission and Nebraska State Historical Society. Together, the three organizations issued a statewide call to amateur and professional photographers, inviting them to capture photo images of historic sites or hidden treasures located throughout Nebraska. These historic treasures could be listed on the National Register of Historic places, or be a place of community or personal significance.  The Photo Call was open from June 1, 2015 – March 21, 2016. Over 800 photo submissions were received!

Jurors for the “Bridges” Photo Call included contributor to National Geographic Magazine and NEBRASKAland Magazine Joel Sartore; University of Nebraska-Lincoln Professor Emeritus George Tuck; and regular contributors to Nebraska Life Magazine, Bobbi and Steve Olson.  For more information on the rules, guidelines and sponsors, visit the Bridges Photo Call Page.
