Celticas Spiritus Retreat

SIMPLIFY: Touching the Timeless and Taking it Home II

A Retreat of Ancient Wisdom and Present Practice

July 29-31, 2016 | St. Benedict Retreat Center in Schuyler, Nebraska

Hildegard Center for the Arts and Celticas Spiritus have once again created a summer retreat for attendees to reflect, recharge and rekindle peace and simplicity in their lives. This relaxing getaway offered a renewed inspiration using the visual arts, music and meditative movement. HCFA and Celticas Spiritus first collaborated on Touching the Timeless in 2014. After so much positive feedback, this year’s retreat was extended to last an entire weekend. With more presenters, spiritual practices and “free time” built into the schedule, the retreat was even better than anticipated.

Susan J.Brasch, Artist

Susan helped participants explore the offerings of a mandala practice: inner calm, a sacred place to make decisions, a therapeutic offering (if wanted or needed), intentions purveyor, and a reminder of our inherent wholeness in the now.

Holly Heffelbower, Vocalist

Holly led a sacred song session (for non-singers). Singing can reach into our crevices and flood us with light. In this session, participants discovered the deeper meanings of their quotes by singing them together in a loving and accepting space. This session included light movement and deep breathing.

Rev. Jamie Norwich McLennan, Retreat Designer and Pastor of New Visions Community

Jamie is a loves to help people explore their talents and options for living authentically in the world. While her own heritage is Celtic, Jamie has a passion for developing relationships with people from around the world. She led welcome worship, morning prayers and chapel time.

Anne Sheedy Gardner, Flutist, Iconographer and Scribe

Anne helped participants discover the basic steps in how to create an icon. A few of Anne’s most recent icons were on display accompanied by step-by-step photographic journals of their process.

Cathleen Kelly, Certified Meditative Movement and T’ai Chi Chih Instructor

Cathleen led T’ai Chi Chih (pronounced Tai Chi Cha) and Dance Meditation sessions. T’ai Chi Chih is the movement of our energy. This practice will have you recognizing your energy field and cultivating an internal center of peace and serenity. Dance Meditation is a classification of “dancing” which is the use of dance to explore and express our identity as Soul.

“The ability to simplify means to eliminate the unnecessary so that the necessary may speak.”
